Ben has 6+ years experience in the underground locating industry with numerous industry qualifications and competencies. Ben is privileged to be part of NULCA NZ and currently sits on the committee. Ben is also looking forward to the BeforeUdig certified locator programmme being launched.
Shem is an Otago University graduate and holds a BSc, majoring in Physical Geography. Prior to joining UST Shem was operating UAVs and GPS equipment to collect, survey, inspect and process field data for various industries. Shem is currently working towards achieving a NULCA NZ accredited competency to identify, locate and protect underground services.
Steve has been with UST for a year now and has 30+ years experience in the building, joinery and civil construction industries. Steve brings numerous transferable skills to Utility Scan after spending almost a decade as a directional driller. He holds the NULCA AU accredited competency to identify, locate and protect underground services. Steve is working on becoming a BeforeUdig certified locator which is being launched.

Our Operations Manager Ben Giles has completed the NULCA Course in Underground Asset Location and holds the national Competency Standard RllCCM202D. He is an experienced locator who has had extensive experience on the Powerco Electricity and Gas Networks and has worked as a Senior Subsurface Locating Technician in the Taranaki region.
